Example: 25 an hour at 38 hours a week

At 25 an hour, 38 hours a week, 52 weeks a year: 950.00 a week, 1,900.00 a fortnight, 4,116.67 a month and 49,400.00 a year. At 40 hours a week, 52,000 a year is 25.00 an hour.

Limits and limitations

  • The figures are gross, before tax. Tax, superannuation, pension contributions, leave loading and other deductions are not applied.
  • It assumes the same hours every week. Overtime, penalty rates and irregular shifts are not modelled.
  • Paid weeks per year is yours to set. Using 52 counts paid holidays as paid weeks. Lower it if some weeks are unpaid.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a salary to an hourly rate?

Divide the yearly salary by the hours worked in a year, which is hours per week times paid weeks. For 52,000 at 40 hours and 52 weeks, that is 52,000 ÷ 2,080 = 25.00.

How is monthly pay calculated?

As one twelfth of the yearly figure. A month is not exactly four weeks, so it is not four times the weekly pay.

Does this show my take-home pay?

No. It converts gross pay between periods. Your take-home pay depends on tax and deductions that this tool does not apply.
