Shopify fees (editable)

These are example rates, not live figures. Shopify changes its fees and they vary by category, country and account, so check your own fee page and edit any value. The monthly plan fee is not per sale, so it is not included here. Spread it over your orders by adding it to Other costs.

%

Online card rate on the entry plan with Shopify Payments in the US, at the time of writing. Other plans and countries differ.

Added to each order.

%

Charged when you use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments. Enter your plan's rate.

Enter a selling price to see your profit. Costs and fees left blank count as 0.

How to use it

  1. Enter the order

Type the product price, shipping charged, what the product and its shipping cost you, and the ad spend or other cost for one order.

  2. Set payment fees

The card rate and fixed fee start as examples for an entry-level plan. Edit them for your plan, add a third-party gateway fee if you use one, and set unused fees to 0.

  3. Read your profit

See profit per order, margin and return, and a table that shows each fee. The monthly plan fee is not per order, so add a share of it to Other costs.

Example: a $50 product with $6 shipping

The customer pays 56.00. Card processing at 2.9% is 1.62 plus 0.30 fixed, so fees are 1.92. Product 18.00, shipping 6.00 and 8.00 of ad spend per order make costs 32.00, so profit is 22.08, a 39.4% margin.

Limits and limitations

  • Shopify and your payment provider changes its fees from time to time, and what you pay depends on your category, country, account type and sales history. The rates pre-filled in this tool are examples to show how the maths works. Always check Shopify and your payment provider's own fee page and edit the fields to match.
  • Monthly plan fees, app subscriptions, currency conversion and taxes are not per order, so they are not included unless you spread them across orders and add them to Other costs.
  • Card rates differ for online, in-person and international payments. Use the rate for the kind of order you are modelling.
  • The result is an estimate for planning, not accounting, tax or legal advice. Sales tax, VAT, income tax, currency conversion and returns are not included unless you enter them as a cost.
